National Tire and Battery is a chain of tire retailers that has locations all over the United States. NTB history runs deep with the company being started in 1997. The NTB brand was started by Sears when they merged National Tire Warehouse and Tire America to create an automotive company that sold and serviced not only tires, but batteries as well.
In 2002, it is reported that National Tire and Battery had 226 chains across the country. That year, it is estimated that the company brought in nearly $425 million in revenue and at least $60 million in profit. In 2003, Sears sold NTB to a Florida-based company called TBC Corporation (Tire Kingdom). According to a spokesperson for Sears, the company decided to sell the brand because they felt that TBC could drive growth better than Sears.
National Tire and Battery has set itself apart from other similar automotive stores because not only do they sell tires and batteries, they perform a great deal of mechanical services as well. Their huge selection of top of the line tires like Goodyear, Michelin, BF Goodrich and Toyo, coupled with services like brake work, oil changes, alignment jobs, shock and strut work and most other preventative car maintenance services, is what makes the company unique. In recent years, National Tire and Battery has taken pride in the environmentally-friendly approach to automotive maintenance.
They have set up agreements with professional recycling services to pick up and recycle fluid that they drain from vehicles. In addition, NTB also recycles vehicle batteries, which are known to contain lead, so that the lead and other components of the battery can be used in making new batteries. Used tires do not get thrown in the trash either, as they are also recycled.
NTB is also known as a company that helps the community. In addition to individual franchises around the country supporting their own communities, NTB supports Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation. This is an organization set up to help fund research for pediatric cancer.
NTB history can be traced back more than a decade. With small beginnings, this company has now grown to an industry leader when it comes to automotive products and services. It has become a one-stop shop for many of your vehicle repair needs. You can buy parts, as well as have services performed on your vehicle. As of 2011, National Tire and Battery now boasts more than 600 locations across the country.
